DESCRIPTION
A bold, vibrant sunflower up close — dramatic light and shadow against a deep, dark green background. Her center holds shades of brown, violet, and green, still half in shadow.
The sun is beaming on her like a spotlight — permission to finally be seen. She comes out timidly, so tired of hiding, but she's starting to recognize her own fierceness and celebrate it. Something shifted: the facade is gone. Now she sees herself clearly, and she's surprised by what she found — she was beautiful all along.
She's alive, full of color and personality. She's sassy. She has opinions, and they're valid. She's caring less about what people think, and more about being herself. She didn't get here alone — it took work, dedication, and the right people behind her before she was willing to take the risk. She still struggles, still finding herself, but she's trying, and she's starting to hold her head up higher.
So if the light is finding you right now: this is your spotlight. Walk into it. Welcome it. You can get there too.

DESCRIPTION
I called her Lonely Lotus. One flower, alone on her stem, no others beside her.
But the longer I spend with her, the less I think "lonely" and the more I am thinking an introvert that prefers her own company. She's not incomplete. She's simply herself, fully — the same way a person can stand alone in a room and not need anyone beside them to feel whole. This painting is for all those introverts out there.
If you've ever been questioned as to why you seem to prefer isolation to a room full of people, made to feel like that's not normal, forced into situations you didn't prefer to appease others, or maybe people have let you down too many times, this painting is a reminder that no one knows you better than yourself.
Being alone isn't always isolation or loneliness. Sometimes it's just what's left when you finally know exactly who you are, and you realize you like your own company best.

DESCRIPTION
This is Shadow, caught in his happiest moment — the one my husband and I used to call "getting squinched." That's what happened when he'd been petted so much, so well, that one ear would flatten and his eye would squint shut in pure contentment. That exact, blissed-out look is what I painted here, and it's the look I'll remember always.
Shadow passed away in 2020, and this portrait is how I keep a piece of him close — not the sadness of losing him, but the joy of who he was. This is what love looked like on his face, and I wanted to capture it in oil paint so it would last.
This piece is also a sample of what I can do for your own pet. I take commissions in oil, pastel, and watercolor — if you have a moment like this with your own animal, happy or bittersweet, I'd be honored to help you hold onto it the way I've held onto Shadow.

DESCRIPTION
There's a kind of silence and simple calm you don't get anywhere in the city, no matter how you try. That's what this autumn field gave me, driving home on Route 86 through Upstate New York: the gold and wine-colored grasses catching the light, the bare trees holding onto their last rust-colored leaves, the blue mountains sitting still in the distance. I wasn't looking for peace. It just arrived, uninvited, through a car window, and spoke louder than anything I'd seen in months.
I had my camera glued to my eye the whole drive, pointed out the passenger window, trying to catch anything I could while I deeply connected to nature and what I felt was a glimpse of the universe.
Upstate New York moves past you fast when you're in a car — most of what I saw that day, I only saw once, for a second, and then it was gone. I got lucky with a reference to bring it home and paint.
The moment I took the picture, one thought came to me before anything else: stillness is speaking here.
I've spent years working in New York City, in the noise and the rush of it. That contrast is exactly why this moment hit so hard.
That's what this painting is. Not a place I sat and studied for hours. A moment I barely caught, that asked me to slow down and listen anyway.
I think that's often how stillness actually arrives — not when we schedule it, not when we finally sit down and try to feel calm. It sneaks up on us mid-drive, mid-errand, mid-everything-else, and asks for nothing except that we notice it while it's there. It's something we all crave, more than we usually admit.
This is my attempt to hold onto a moment I only had for a few seconds, so you can have it for longer than I did.
PERFECT FOR
Farmhouse and countryside interiors • Living rooms and reading nooks • Mountain cabin decor • A gift for someone who needs to slow down • Nature lovers and upstate New York enthusiasts • Nursery wall art decor

DESCRIPTION
Some days you need a reminder that you're without a doubt, stronger than you feel. Not a slogan on a mug or an AI-created photograph — something you can actually look at, and feel deeply, that encouragingly says keep going every time you pass it.
That's what this is. I painted her closed on purpose. Not blooming, not confident, not finished — because that's the moment that called to me, when I felt closed up and afraid to open up and be seen.
I wasn't painting just a pretty lotus bud amongst leaves — I was painting my feelings at the time, using a lotus bud instead of my own words, because some things are easier to say in color than out loud.
The lotus is one of the oldest symbols of awakening: it grows up through mud and dark water, and long before it ever opens, it's just a bud, hidden in green and shadow, waiting. The leaves curl around her like they're protecting her — they even have veins, same as we do.
You don't have to bloom today. You just have to stay rooted, and keep growing toward the light, working on your confidence and courage one day at a time. That's what she's doing right now, in this painting — not performing courage, just gathering it.
Even closed, unsure, mid-bud — you are already worth looking at. The courage and strength will come, in its own time, the same way it did for me. Every pastel mark on this paper came from my own hand. I know what it feels like to need this reminder, because I needed it myself when I made it.

DESCRIPTION
A breathtaking water lily with soft white petals, completely open, with dramatic mauve shadows. She lays on dark water, her center a glowing vibrant yellow — like tiny fingers reaching out. Beneath her, vines of support wind through the dark water. A colorful lily pad rests in the top left corner, and another beneath her casts a bluish purple shadow. But she finally had the support she needed, and it feels wonderful to be supported.
Look at her — surrounded by leaves and vines, held from behind, rising out of the shadows. Sensing that maybe, just maybe, she could do it. She's not emerging alone.
Because having someone believe in her made all the difference. This is the painting for the moment you finally find your people. The ones who hold you up while you rise.
Who push you when you have doubts in yourself and your abilities. Who believe in you before you fully believe in yourself. She's done hiding. Done feeling invisible and scared of what people think. So are you.

DESCRIPTION
Happiness isn't a destination. It isn't a single moment or a single bloom — it's coming into your own, accepting yourself as you are, being authentic, enjoying your life.
Two water lilies sit side by side on a sun-drenched pond — pink and coral, with glowing golden centers, both fully open, both radiant. One sits just in front of the other, and the one behind is completely fine with that; she's supporting her. She's seen, loved, and fully herself among her peers.
I painted this when I was the most confident I'd ever been — when I finally loved myself. This painting is me, right now. I worked so hard on myself, and this is how I came out of it. She still has shadows, but they're beautiful, textured ones, because we're always still a work in progress.
So wherever you are on that road: every stage, every step of your becoming is valid, worthy, and worth celebrating. You don't have to be fully there yet — and even when you are, you're still becoming. You are already enough, exactly as you are.
A note from behind the painting: I'm a big Claude Monet fan and always think of him when I paint water lilies. As I was painting the background, specifically the shadows in the lily pads, soon after, I caught myself painting them in a very Monet way: almost abstract, heavily textured. Monet's water lilies first made me fall in love with impressionism, helping me finish my own.

DESCRIPTION
When I chose this reference to paint, I was very happy. I had just found out I was going to be a mom in nine months. I called this pastel painting "Landing Zone", because the view felt like a bee coming in to land or should I say pollinate this beautiful purple tulip, who had everything opened up and waiting, much like me.
Then I was going through something so hard, it weighed heavily on me while I worked. I had been open the way the flower was open — waiting for the bee, waiting for my visitor. My visitor was replaced with grief. I let it all continue to show, just like the flower shows its stamens.
This painting is about complete and utter vulnerability.
Sometimes when we're going through something, we turn to the ones we think will understand and be there for us — and we're surprised by vacancy and emptiness instead. That's when you find out fast who is really there unconditionally and who disappears. Not everyone can handle complete vulnerability from another person. It makes them uncomfortable.
The grief I felt was not surprising. The silence afterward was.
I did get through it. The strength I mustered up mostly came internally.
Vulnerability and strength go hand in hand. We all experience it at one time or another. Even if your support system fades away — never hold it in.

Bedroom and bold accent walls • Reading nooks and quiet corners • Maximalist and jewel-tone interiors • Botanical and floral art collections • A gift for someone going through something

DESCRIPTION
I've been drawn to water lilies for over twenty years, and I know exactly why. Monet is my all-time favorite artist, and he was obsessed with them. His obsession became my obsession.
I can't deny how beautiful they are, or what they represent. To me they're about our connection to something more than what we just see — and about stillness. If you're on a spiritual journey and you're drawn to peaceful, meditative art, water lilies tend to find their way in.
This piece is also about hope and new beginnings. This beautiful pink water lily is slowly opening itself up and blooming, seeing the possibilities, much like how we can bloom as human beings when we believe in ourselves, surround ourselves with a solid support system and feel seen by others. Sometimes the hardest thing is even not giving up and to keep going.
This painting is a reminder of your potential, the many possibilities of what you can obtain in life and what you are completely capable of when you actively align in your path—regardless of what is in your way and any resistance. It is a reminder to not give up and to keep going. Everything you ever wanted is around the corner...waiting to be claimed.

DESCRIPTION
This painting is for everyone who's ever felt like the odd one out. The ones who never quite fit, who always felt a little different from everyone else in the room.
These three red water lilies together, at first, make me think of family. Upon looking closer, I saw something else. The two flowers in the back are together, like close friends. The one in front is on its own pad, apart from them — isolated.
It isn't just loneliness exactly. It's the feeling of being left out.
That's a feeling I've had a lot, for a good part of my life — being around people and still not being included. Feeling constantly misunderstood by people who don't seem to get you, like you have nothing in common with anyone in the room. You start to think something is wrong with you.
What I've learned since is that there are a lot of other people out there feeling the exact same thing.
We're all unique in our own way, and the thing that makes you feel separate from everyone else is usually the same thing that makes you you.
I don't always know it at the time, but my paintings usually depict what I'm feeling, or what I'm still carrying from the past.

DESCRIPTION
We were at the botanical gardens on a beautiful day — the kind of day I could have wandered through for hours with the camera glued to my face, completely lost in it. My daughter was not having the same experience.
She followed behind me asking "are we done yet??" every few minutes until she was sent to lean against a brick wall, restless, to wait for the moment we'd finally leave. I was surrounded by all this beauty, soaking it in, and right next to me was someone counting the minutes.
As I was there taking pictures of the gorgeous botanical gardens, I was drawn to her — her face, her expression, the lighting and play of shadows — and found myself photographing her instead.
That contrast is exactly what I wanted to capture — a kid who'd had enough, and a mom who wasn't ready to go; not a posed, happy family photo moment; as well as the beautiful play of light and shadow.
I think every parent knows this exact feeling, from one side or the other. The dragging-your-feet boredom of being somewhere your parents love and you don't.
Or the ache of wanting your child to see what you see, and realizing, not yet — maybe not today. And the sigh of realizing that your child is missing out on all the beauty around them because they refuse to really see it.
PERFECT FOR
Parents who know this exact feeling • Real, honest family moments over posed perfection • Portrait and figurative art lovers • Nursery, playroom, or family room decor

THE ART:
This drawing is an original colored pencil drawing titled “Purple Orchid”. It has an illustrative vibrant style of an orchid in a closeup view. This colored pencil drawing was created after I purchased one of many orchids, this one in particular, on Mother's Day. I love orchids and find them to be very delicate but interesting and almost appearing aggressive. They remind me somewhat of an insect ready to strike. The vibrancy of color in this photograph and the closeup view of this orchid was very interesting to me as well as the color combination of purples and a splash of yellow. This artwork is SOLD.

DESCRIPTION
The rose is the classic symbol of beauty and love — soft, romantic. But this one is also quiet and shy. She unfolds slowly, finally letting herself open — hoping no one notices, and that everyone notices, at the same time. Torn.
The pastel painting has a soft, old-time classic feel — peaches and pinks with a burst of intense red at her center, glowing against a very dark background. She is the light in the darkness. And what she doesn't realize is that she's absolutely captivating and perfect. Inside, she's insecure and self-critical, caring too much what people think — when she never needed to.
I myself hid, then peeked out, bracing to be judged — because I had been, constantly. I cared too much what people thought. I'd been told I was hideous so many times I believed it, and saw myself that way. But it was never true — I was beautiful the whole time, inside and out.
So if you're slowly unfolding, terrified of being seen and judged: you are beautiful just as you are, your authentic self.
