I painted these red water lilies because water lilies have always fascinated me — they emerge from the mud, close each night, and open again the next morning, blooming in their own way no matter what's around them.

Like these water lilies we begin again each morning too, ready to tackle our obstacles, sometimes forgetting how strong we are. We too have resilience and the ability to rise above difficult conditions.

Some days we have support. Other days we don't, and we have to break through on our own. Each lily has a pad and roots of its own, drawing from the same pond without ever depending on the one beside it. There is something to be said for standing on your own two feet — for getting through hardship yourself, and coming out the other side stronger for it.

Let this water lily painting be a reminder of your strength and resilience when you need it.
