"Showing Off" Original Pastel Painting SOLD
DESCRIPTION
A daffodil stands bright and bold, petals open as if saying, “Look at me.” It’s proud and radiant. People sometimes do the same—putting on a polished show because we’ve been taught that vulnerability is weakness.
Often showiness comes from insecurity. We hide flaws, mask feelings of not-enough, or try to outshine others to cover what we fear will be judged. It’s a noisy way to feel safe. But unlike a daffodil, which can simply be bright, people learn to use brightness as armor.
What if we tried something else? Letting ourselves be seen—messy starts, clumsy thoughts, small fears—could free us from performance. Authenticity removes the stage and opens the way to real connection instead of competition. The daffodil doesn’t pretend; its brightness is simply itself. Maybe true boldness is quietly letting the world see we already are enough.
